Rules for....

the rest of us!

"Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it. "

Lou Holtz

You've got to love Lou Holtz.  The man says it like it is.  Wonder if he broke a few rules on the field sometimes?  I doubt it. Hmmm....

Rules, rules, rules. … Ok number one rule – go grab some good brew. I’m still finding some pretty good stuff at Southern Season, in liberal mecca Chapel Hill, NC. And this week  it's Panama Boyette in my cup. What’s in yours? Is it bitter “tea”, as in tea party, for the Dems and the establishment Repubs? Or is it a “refreshing” blend of faith, hope, and charity? Whatever it is, make a fresh pot and sit awhile. Your company is welcome..and so is your opinion. So leave comments, please.

So, this past week, I've heard the "Buckley Rule" reverberate through the talk shows. This rule is “vote for whomever is electable.” It doesn’t matter what that person may have done, how long they’ve been in office, how much damage they’ve done to our country while in office, etc. Just elect them – we don’t like the other guy or gal. Bull crap. I mean, I liked Bill, but who says he gets to make the rules? And is it the right rule to follow in this election cycle? Or just some junk from the established Washington elites? Junk.

Then of course, there is the set of rules our President believes and follows, Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky. Rules like 1) Never let a crisis go to waste; 2) divide from within; 3) the ends justifies the means; 4) Sell the people on change. Insist things are bad. Use words like “audacity of hope” and “yes we can”. (sound familiar?)

What about this one, #11: "If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside... every positive has its negative." Feel familiar? Read more:

Oh yeah, let’s not forget the set of rules the current House and Senate follow – Nancy’s rules. "We will go through the gate. If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will pole vault in. If that doesn't work, we will parachute in. But we are going to get health care reform passed for the American people for their own personal health and economic security and for the important role that it will play in reducing the deficit."

And the famous one:
“You have to pass it to see what’s in it.” You dumb peasants.

That all being said, I think I'll make a few myself since even Rush has come out with the "Limbaugh rule". I actually like Rush’s – elect conservatives.

So here goes. (click read more on the left...)

Washington, Raleigh, and Lee county elite want us to follow these rules:

1. Shut up. Just shut up. You’re a bunch of wackos and peasants. We know what’s better for you. You’re too stupid to realize we’ve been infiltrating government at all levels for a very long time. You deserve this.

2. We know better how to spend your money than you do. Realize now, in January, you’re going broke. Not us. Not the elites. You’re going broke due to Rule #1. So again, shut up.

3. We want you broke. We cannot implement socialism if you are working, paying for your own healthcare, and not on our welfare rolls. So quit your job. Obama has already promised to pay your mortgage, your healthcare, and put gas in your car. What more could the peasants want?

4. Elect Democrats. Republicans are going to steal your kids lunch money, starve granny or force her to eat cat food, repeal healthcare, make you sit in the dark and will privatize your social security. And we all know Obama is doing his best to destroy the stock market. So why should we elect Republicans?

5. Sharpton’s rule: "We Won't Have True Social Justice Until Everything Is ‘Equal in Everybody's House.”

6. Cameron Diaz rule: “Vote or die.”

7. NC Legislature rule: “Chocolate Milk is bad. More regulation is good.”

8. Lee County Commissioners’ and Board of Education rule: Shut up. It’s for the children. How dare any of you reject renovating a new high school? Don’t you know your commissioners were just kidding when they “guaranteed $19 million” for LCHS renovation? No,no, Sheila there will not be a property tax increase coming down the pipe. Absolutely not. At least not this year. Ha.

Stop believing that the ¼ cent increase will not pay for all of it. Oh, did we say $19 million? Oops, our bad. It’s really around $22-24 million. No big deal. That’s just change hanging around in your pockets and we’re going to get it.

9. Another Lee County and secret advisor Rule: Lord how mercy, we can’t forget the “Linda must be stopped” rule. It’s just not ok that she has two roles: GOP chair and Commissioner. How dare she? Geez, we’ll make sure she gets it with new ethics rules, garnered by…well, we’ll keep you wondering who is behind it…but anyway, she really is screwing the taxpayers because she’s a mom, believes in the Constitution, and stands up for the taxpayers, too. OMG – Remove her now!

Editor disclaimer: I have openly said that I thought the two positions would put her in a predicament. The RINOs and left have viciously attacked Linda Shook. And now they are using this as a ploy. That’s what happens when you can’t find anything else to destroy the person.

10. When all else fails, and the citizens start understanding the destruction the radical left and progressives are attempting, refer to Rule #1. Shut up. Just shut up. You citizens are stupid. And we like it that way. We want you that way.

Rules for ….the rest of us:

1. Be true to yourself. When you are, you won’t send the same thugs back to Washington, Raleigh or the halls of Lee county Government buildings. That goes for both sides. If you really look deep, even Dems, you would see just how conservative you really are. How many of you just felt a pain in your heart? Truth hurts, doesn’t it?

2. Be a conservative. Wear the label proudly. Show it. Live it.

3. Don’t give up on your country. America’s best days are coming. And it will be incredible to be a part of it. Just like 8/28.

4. Stand up for your beliefs and values. Never let your guard down. That’s how they’ve infiltrated our everyday life. They beat us up until we simply believe we can’t take anymore and give in. Don’t let them do that.

5. Always believe “Yes, we can.” We can take back America. And how we do that depends on if you practice Rule #6.

6. Get on your knees nightly. Pray for your country. Pray for, yes, President Obama, his family and Congress. Pray for others’ eyes to be opened and the truth to be shown. In case you don’t know, God doesn’t deal too well with hypocrites. If you talk it, walk it. Live the life you say you want to.

Editor’s disclaimer: I’m first in line to ask for forgiveness. I fail daily. I am not a role model. So don’t count on me. Yea, you could probably write back (my closest friends and relatives) and say “isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black?” And I would have to shamefully say, “Yes.”

7. Our rule contradicts #6 in previous set of rules: “Vote and live free.” Your vote is your say in our Government. You make a difference. Get out and tell your neighbors to vote. Drive them to the polls. Promote your candidate.

8. Do not become a moderate. Moderates play games. No wonder American citizens can’t tell the difference between a Democrat and a RINO and they are simply disgusted. Because there isn’t one. You either stand for small government or more. You either stand for “life begins at conception” not when a woman determines, or you don’t. You either believe there’s right and there’s wrong, not that there’s right and not so right.

You either believe in individual liberty or you don’t. More government = less liberties.
Prove me wrong, libs.  I dare you.

9. Speak up. For every one of you like me, who opens your mouth, or picks up a pen to write a letter, or creates a blog, there are dozens of others too shy or afraid to speak up. That’s ok. That’s why God made us. Some of us go when prompted and some of us stay in the background interceding for America. I’m ok with that.

10. Adopt Jimmy Valvono’s rule: “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.”
America, never give up.

11. President Obama is not the Messiah, not a rock star, and not your sugar daddy. Get out and work. Get out and make something of yourself. Your country doesn’t owe you a thing.

12. Last, and most importantly: Practice faith, hope, and charity. If your neighbor is in need, don’t turn away. Help them. If your child is in despair, share the greatness of our country and the hope in God you have with them. No one is promised tomorrow. So live today as if it’s your last.

My friends, when I write things like #12, something settles peacefully in my heart. I simply have so much passion for my country. I can’t hide it. And you shouldn’t either.

I am thankful for this country. And I’m thankful also…

That rules can be broken. Let’s break the crap out of Washington’s, Raleigh’s, and Lee county’s good ol’ boy rules.

Yes! And feel free to add your rules for the rest of us to my list. Comment. People from the other side might actually be reading this blog. So you CAN make a difference.

Until next week,

I want to be the first to comment. I am sitting at java express sipping a German choc white mocha witnessing charity. One of your county commissioner candidates is the culprit. Bless him lord!

And we all pray that, in two years, we get another blessing- a fresh brewed at-large County Commisioner!

Ha ha ha...sure Lee county could handle it, Mr. Madison??

No doubt! They will be demanding someone of your caliber...
