Here we go again. These Democrats just won't quit. Perdue just announces her administration will create 2,000 Pre-K slots with a 'ONE TIME PAYMENT'. Bev, who is going to pay it next year?
Perdue: NC will have 2,000 more Pre-K slots this year
Raleigh, N.C. — Gov. Bev Perdue announced Wednesday that her administration will create 2,000 additional slots in Pre-K classrooms across North Carolina this year with $9.3 million she has identified to help at-risk 4-year-olds.
The additional funding will come from child-care subsidy money on a one-time basis, according to a statement from the governor's office. ..Read more...
Folks, when will this end? You know as well as I do there is no such thing as "one time" funding source in government.
Another fine example: The Herald reports this week that our Lee County Schools will get "upgraded laptops" that will costs about $1.58 million. Right! The $1.4 million grant that started the Laptop 1:1 initiative ended up to be over $6 million. And guess who is left to pay - that's right - the taxpayers. Surely you remember that story.
Spend some time at the Hillcrest offices and you'll be surprised what you find. You have to go down to the county manager's office and peruse documents to find out the "whole" story.
I for one am so sick of this. I want the whole truth. No matter who gets hurt. Stop telling me a laptop initiative will only costs such and such. That's never the way it works in government. Once you start a program you can't stop it. It's a sickness in our government from DC to Lee County. Implement a program that has a one-time funding source and then try to take it away! Never going to happen.
When we can get the "$7.9 million" question answered, we might start believing what we see happening in government and reported in the news. Until then, I won't hold my breath.
And they wonder why we demand accountability from our school systems. The disdain they have for us isn't even hidden anymore.
