ABC News Still Cannot Be Trusted

ABC News stopped being trustworthy a long time ago.  Their recent unbalanced reporting about “lean finely textured beef” (AKA as LFTB and as ‘pink slime’) is just another example of why their reports are suspect.  Did they tell the truth about LFTB?  Yes, and no.

What is ABC’s angle in reporting this story as they did?  Are they trying to drive the producers of this textured beef out of business because the producers are successful capitalists?  Are they pushing people away from meat products to accomplish some vegetarian agenda?  Are they hoping to decrease the amount of cows on the planet since cows contribute to greenhouse gases?  Are they concerned about the quality of the nation’s food supply?  Are they wanting to boost their ratings by exposing something in a scandalous way?  Whatever their agenda, they certainly caused a ruckus.

How ABC News Smeared a Stellar Company with Pink Slime

AFA Foods and Beef Products Inc, producers of LFTB, are doing nothing illegal.  The meat (and yes it really is meat) that becomes LFTB is not treated with ammonia as ABC reported; it is treated with ammonium hydroxide.  Ammonium hydroxide is used in the production of many foods, including dairy products, fish and beer.

Thankfully, as consumers become educated about the truth concerning LFTB, they are less panicked about it.   Hopefully, some of the damage that ABC has done with their unbiased reporting can be repaired, and AFA Foods and Beef Products Inc will survive and thrive.

Thanks for helping spread the truth about LFTB! More people need to be informed correctly and see what a great product it is! Thanks!

You're welcome, Anonymous. I had bought into the 'evil' of it myself until a young friend of mine pointed out the other side of the story. I'm glad she was bold enough to challenge me.
