Dr. Smith...It's Hardly Been 24 hours!

Word on the street is that Dr. Smith barely waited 24 hours after re-election to start petitioning for Dr. Moss' contract to be extended!  Seems he took time from fixing teeth to visit some current board members.

I wonder with newcomer Wendy Carlyle coming on board and Cameron Sharpe being re-elected, if the good orthodontist is wee bit nervous?!?  Is it possible that tough questions will be asked and resistance will be seen to giving blank checks to the Super and friends?   There's probably a 99.99% guarantee Ms. Brogan will vote for it!

Especially since we know she received quite a bit from the LEED PAC Brats.  And let's not forget..she's Mr. Clark's protege!  And of course, education is #1 with this crowd.  They definitely are not interested in character assassination.

Anyway, don't you think they would have the courtesy (there's that word again) to wait for the new board to convene?  Surely they want Ms. Brogan's automatic "Yes" vote on record!  Or do they? Because as soon as she does, it will be a "See I told you so" moment!
Dr. Moss' contract was extended last year to 2014.  So Lynn, what's the rush?

But just in case the current members have forgotten, let's remind them of this statute:

Chapter 115 C, Article 18

And this one in particular addresses the issue of lame duck school boards in paragraph (c):

SUBCHAPTER V. PERSONNEL.
Article 18.
Superintendents.

"(c) At any time after the first 12 months of the contract, a local board may, with the written consent of the current superintendent, extend or renew the term of the superintendent's contract for a term of no more than four years from the date of the extension. If new board members have been elected or appointed and are to be sworn in, a board shall not act to extend or renew the current superintendent's contract until after the new members have been sworn in."

Good ole' boy's love to reward one another! I can't believe that Smith would want to hang the taxpayer's out like that. Some people have no shame!

Word on the street is simply another way of saying I really have no credible information, but this is juicy enough for me to publish and promote my agenda.

Nope, not here. It simply means - look what's happening in your area. And hopefully the crap will stop.

Will stop before it goes further that is!
