About That "Declaration"

Most of us hold sacred the Charters of Freedom.  We hold them close with all of our heart, soul and mind.  We understand with those unalienable rights,  that all liberty begins and ends with our God.  We are blessed in America.  We are truly exceptional.

But our mere existence as Americans, created equally by God, and not Obama or anyone else in government, is being challenged.   And no amount of "equal branding" by the federal government has ever given anyone anywhere  such liberty. For what Government gives, government can take away. However, what God gives, He gives freely.  And every one of us has an "equal opportunity" to be all we can be. 

Many in our society have been sold a bill of goods by progressives and the left that they are owed something just because of their skin color or financial status.  But that is so untrue.  Blacks are no more disenfranchised than whites.  Poor have just as much voting power as the rich.  And the poor have just as much opportunity to get up and do something as the rich did.  It may take them a bit longer but they can be whatever they want..they are Americans!  No other country offers this.  But sadly, many just choose NOT TO BE!    We all came into this world the same way.  We all put our pants on the same way.  It is not my problem or my fault if you don't see that. Quit letting others think and do for you.

Again, I say, we all can be better should we choose.  I don't care how many times Obama and the left try to tell the citizenry how bad the right is or how unfair society is...it's still one's  choice to do better or stay in the condition they are in. 


Growing up in Williamston, NC,  I was one of those kids the Democrats would like to have seen on proverbial welfare.  My parents were poor.  I mean poor!  We had meat on Sunday and more than likely peas and potatoes plus a biscuit or two for dinner during the week.  I was still wearing hand me downs from town folks in my junior year in high school.  I didn't know at the time what I was going to do but I knew I had to get out.  I didn't let my situation continue.

It wasn't the government that did it for me.  It was a mama who made me believe in myself and who also told me at 18 I was on my own.  She had done her job.  And it was up to me to break the cycle.  I believe I did (with the help of a guy who I still love almost 30 years later)!

I guess I just don't understand the "poor old me mentality" that exists among our youth.  Why do they think I owe them a college education, a car, free gas, free mortgage, free clothes, etc?  I worked for mine.  They should work for theirs or do without.  But the constant attack from the left with the help of the mainstream media on freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all, has brainwashed those "occupier" kids into thinking they don't have to do anything (except be hypocritical and text on those iPhone!). After all, didn't Obama promise them hope?  Somebody in Raleigh said on national TV that he was going to pay for his gas, his car, etc.  Pretty sad, don't you think? 

I took a look back at the Declaration of Independence.  Folks, we are in the fight of our lives from some of the same oppressions by King George that are listed in it. Tyranny is at our doorsteps. Tyranny of an over zealous government that has forgotten what the 2nd Amendment's purpose is (or they simply don't care).   Our freedom to worship our God openly and anywhere is under assault. And freedom to speak our opposition of government and not feel retribution (as in being called a racist or targeted by the IRS) is truly under a massive attack.  You either think like the liberals or you are pond scum to them.   

The colonists fought against many oppressions like trade restrictions which made it hard to sell just about anything  ( think EPA and other excessive regulations that stunt economic growth). They fought against excessive taxation that King George forced upon them (think Obamacare). And they fought against the Royal enforcers who thought of themselves as elitists and threatened the citizenry with force (think Pelosi's 111th Congress, Obama and the IRS).  If I didn't know better I'd swear King George was ruling over America. 

Anyway, I want to share something that I found while reading Power Line blog.  It puts a nail in the coffin of  "liberal - think" that our founding documents are extinct.  You see, on July 5, 1926, President Calvin Coolidge shared a message about the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.   He eloquently explained how no other country on earth has such symbolic representation of our beginnings...such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Charters of Freedom, etc.   He spoke of American exceptionalism.  Of which, this blogger still believes exists, but sees it slipping away.

It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. Final. Unalienable rights - Final.  Created equal - Final.  Government by the people - Final.
Do you get it?

Yea - Do you get it?  Just like the book (The Bible), certain things are final.  They are done.  God sent his Son to die for our sins.  Covers everything.  Final.  God gave us a way out - Final.
Oh my goodness, it took a bit to sink in but there's no discussion to be had.  Once a race has ended,  the participants stop.  They don't keep moving because there is no reason.  It's over.  One more mile won't help.  The Checkered flag means it's done.  Final.  And just like a cake in the oven, once it's done, you don't leave it in the oven to continue cooking.  It's ready.  By the Declaration, all men were deemed equal. Final. We were declared to have unalienable rights.  Final. 

Let it soak in - The Finality of the Declaration of Independence.  Now it's time to live like it and tell tyranny it has no place in our lives.  Don't be afraid.  Don't cower.  You  are an American.  And finally never forget:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Very good. Thank you for sharing! There was an episode on "Bonanza" from 1960 about the prejudices against the Chinese. At least they came here legally. I thought the parallels were interesting.
