What would
four more years with the current administration look like? To find out we can
take a look into Scranton Pennsylvania. Mayor Doherty (D) frustrated with the
rejection of tax increases decided that the only way to raise the extra funds
was to simply pay city workers less.
All
firefighters, policemen, trash-collectors and even mayor’s aids saw a decrease
in their pay, down to minimum wage. (Yes the mayors pay is also affected, but
let’s be honest, that doesn’t make it right) That’s right the men and women
serving their city must now decide what bill they will pay this payday.
Surely the
courts can do something about this? Nope the mayor just ignores the courts
order to leave the paychecks alone, apparently he is above the law. Firemen are
after all the “rich” Americans who can afford to give more. Our “overpaid”
Policemen don’t need all that big money every payday. Let’s just take their
hard-earned cash and put it into the government.
Wake up
America, when does the power of the government become intrusive? At what point
does our individual right to the pursuit of happiness trump the whims of
government spending? Can we honestly say that this is fair and just?
No we can
no longer stand by idly and watch small infractions into our individual liberties
be taken. The proof is in the pudding, give the government the choice and they
will take all that we worked hard to accomplish.
I have a
true red-blooded American free market solution for this city. Keep your firemen
and policemen and other city workers at minimum wage. There are many other
cities in America that would love to hire a good hard worker and pay them for
their services. I propose this, County Sheriffs and Fire Marshalls and Chiefs;
let’s lend a hand to these men. Let’s offer them the American Dream. Let’s
offer them the opportunity to better their families and careers. Offer them a
job where they can come and be paid as they deserve to be paid. Let’s offer
them a community that recognizes the value of public workers. Show them that
they are not a resource that we can squeeze when politicians can’t have things
their way. Let’s show them that America still cares for her citizens.

Alex,
First, welcome to FBC from a fellow guest blogger. :) Your blog today says it all and says it well. It is mind-boggling that fireman, etc have now been reduced to minimum wage.
What's scarier is the disregard by the mayor for them. Let's not reduce unnecessary spending. Let's just scare the he double hockey sticks out of the citizens that they won't have protection.
Very good observation Alex. Thanks for making people aware. Welcome to FBC. It is good to have young people involved in what is going on.
