Another Victory for Unions...

Calling all of those of you who support President Obama!

It's regulations like the one below that cause businesses to not hire. And you to lose your job. Even in non-Union states. And with NC's unemployment rate holding around 10.4%, this just adds to the misery and fear for the employers, the job makers, the investors, etc.

As for unions, hasn't the US been hurt enough? Has your job been eliminated? You might want to take a good, long, hard look at the administration you support. Do you ever wonder how they can block Boeing from building a plant in South Carolina and then claim they are trying to create jobs? On another note, but in the same interview about the new NLRB law, the CEO of Applebees just told Foxnews if healthcare was repealed he would hire more people.

New Rules Seen as Aid to Efforts to Unionize

By STEVEN GREENHOUSE
Published: August 25, 2011

"The National Labor Relations Board issued new regulations on Thursday that require companies to put posters on their bulletin boards that inform employees about their rights to unionize under federal law.

Under the new regulations, businesses would have to display notices that explain the right to bargain collectively, to give out union literature and to work together to improve wages and conditions free of retaliation.

Noting that many workers are unaware of these rights, the board said the new regulations are aimed at making it easier for workers to exercise their rights under the National Labor Relations Act, which sets rules for unionization efforts. Agricultural, rail and airline employers would not be covered by the new rule.

Business groups were quick to criticize the new regulations, which they said were part of the board’s pro-union tilt under President Obama.

The board’s chairwoman, Wilma B. Liebman, steps down on Saturday, when her term expires. The new regulations are part of a push by the board’s 3-to-1 Democratic majority to finish cases and rules before she leaves.

“This is one more initiative among those we expect to be coming out over the next month that are essentially gifts to organized labor,” said Randel K. Johnson, senior vice president for labor policy at the United States Chamber of Commerce.

Noting that this was the first time the N.L.R.B. has required posting of such a notice since the labor relations act was passed in 1935, he questioned whether the labor board had the statutory authority to require such notices.

Business groups also expect the board to issue a decision shortly that would make it easier to unionize specific groups of nursing home workers, like certified nursing assistants.

The labor board has come under heavy attack from Republicans and the business community in recent months. In particular, the board’s acting general counsel, Lafe E. Solomon, has drawn fire for filing a case against Boeing that accuses the company of illegally retaliating against unionized workers in Washington State by deciding to build a new $750 million aircraft assembly plant in South Carolina...."

Mrs Barber,

South Carolina gave Boeing a 170 Million Dollar incentive package to get them to move there. Including the state paying the taxes on any fuel used for test flights. So have you changed and adopted a more Rick Perry centered opinion on incentives?

Nope. I sure haven't. I would fight them in SC just like I do in NC.

My issue is with this administration blocking an employer from building a plant that could hire hundreds of employees because they are a non-union state. All the while claiming that Congress should 1) pass a non-existent job bill and the 2) passing one that taxes the job producers in this country!

Our federal, state and local governments have no business picking winners and losers. That's what giving incentives does.

Mrs Barber,

Can someone please explain the conservative stand on State and County incentives? Governor Rick Perry,Governor Nikki Haley, and Governor Chris Christie all use incentives. They all use systems that are incredible similar to North Carolina's. So it is wrong and Liberal when we do it here in North Carolina, but I never hear anything coming from Republicans in other states. I know the Republicans in South Carolina offered Caterpillar a free 2 million dollar building and a package of incentives for the expansion, but our incentive package beat them out. Is this just some crazy Lee County GOP thing? I mean if Rick Perry gets the Presidential nomination how are you people going to support a man who uses more incentives than any other Governor?

I am going to support who gets the nomination.

I hate incentives. We wouldn't need them if taxes were lower on all of us. How in the world did America survive before them? oh that's right, she did.

Too much taxation and regulations have killed the business cycle. Inject incentives. Pit county against county. If states are going to play the game they need to play fairly. Why should Allied Crawford be offered incentives to come here and be in competition to Steele and Pipe? Why didn't the EDC go see Brian and offer him the perks to expand and hire? They didn't play fairly. They could have. they were stupid in the first place to attempt to bring direct competition here.

That's just one example. How about Pfizer? We are still paying them and they have laid off hundreds. Let's just stop this unfairness!

The states and Governors now have no choice. The game is on and the takers (businesses) just barter and barter to no end. It's called picking winners and losers. I don't blame them at all. I am just surprised every business in town hasn't been knocking on the EDC's door. Oh I forgot. Mr. Bob is quite selective in who he cares for.

Randall, have you read the by-laws from the NC DOR concerning incentives? I wrote a term paper on it so I have. If we had harsh laws on the books and followed them, as in not giving a pass on paybacks like our Governor just did with Apex Mftg, some of us might support them. But as in Apex, she chose to slip in an amendment to HB 751 and they were let off the hook for $2 million. They promised the magic word "jobs". Instead they laid off workers. And what about the President's baby, Solyndra? now you and me are on the hook for $525 million! that would have been a nice payment on US debt!

That's why I can honestly call incentives discriminatory.

The Pro-union push by this administration wishes to rebuild the "workers collectives!"
The beauty of this charade is "money laundering!"

Unions establish their presence in a business, raise costs for businesses, force the business to embrace the least efficient worker and strap them with undue burdens in the form of rules, mandates, etc. etc. etc. The labor union collect dues (a laborer's tax)from the workers, that money pays the union bosses, which they in turn use to support the Democrat Socialist Party.

If the union is a public employee union then they launder "tax payers" money into the coffers of the union bosses supporting their Party Masters who insure the union continues to launder tax payer money to the Democrats! What a scam!

Workers of the World Unite! Can anyone say, "useful idiots?"

As always, I shall remain in Search of Our GOD Given Liberties!
