"Atlas Shrugged" and Buckyballs

Last night I finally sat down to unwind from this past weekend in DC. We decided to watch "Atlas Shrugged", a film version of that 1200 page book, written by Ayn Rand.  This movie sends chills up and down my spine.  There are way too many similarities to current events.  And this book was published in the 1950's!!

I heard last week on Rush a call from the CEO of Buckyballs.  That product is an adult toy. But because of stupid, stupid adults, kids have swallowed balls.  The company has gone way above the call of duty and put warning signs all over the product and their website.  But despite this, the CPSC is trying to shut them down.

In the movie, the Government (cronies in Congress - sound familiar) are trying to shut down Reardon Steele.  A savvy businessman joins a smart business woman (Yes!) and the owner of the steele company to build the high-speed rail system.  And above all obstacles they are able to get it done.

Government doesn't like it.  And they pass ....get ready..."Equalization of Opportunity" bill.  OMG if that doesn't sound like President Obama and his cronies nothing will.  Are you reaching for a sweater yet?

Tell CPSC to get lost.  Buy some BuckyBalls!
The first thing that came to mind was BuckyBalls.  How gullible the American public is if they believe the Consumer Product Safety Commission's action to shut them down is nothing more than a concerned agency trying to protect the citizenry.  Bull Crap!  It's big government bullying American businesses.

The Buckyballs CEO has a choice right now...Just like Ellis Wyatt did in the movie.  Should he keep fighting with all his might to keep his company open and fend off big bad brother government or close up?  And leave thousands without jobs.

You have to wonder, why not?  At what point in America, will the makers get fed up and say  "Enough"?   And vanish.  Then what's the government to do...for without our money..there is no government.

FYI:  "Atlas Shrugged" Part 11 comes out 10.12.12

"I am leaving it as I found it. Take over. It's yours."

While I thought the idea (in A.S.) of a 'secret society' of successful business people was a little silly, I'm starting to find the idea appealing. I'm so tired of dealing with incompetent people who want to stymie success and growth. It's easier to just pack up and start again than fix this mess. Sigh.
